OVERVIEW

The NUIFC invites American Indian and Alaska Native community members to submit a tagline for our 2026 Democracy is Indigenous campaign. The winning tagline will be featured nationally across marketing and digital media materials shared with our cohort of urban Indian nonprofits.

The winning submission will receive a cash prize of $500!

Since 2018, NUIFC’s Democracy is Indigenous initiative has supported urban Native nonprofits as they help mobilize their communities. We are looking for a succinct, powerful message that embodies this work and can anchor our communications heading into the 2026 midterm elections.

Democracy is Indigenous directly invests in urban Indian nonprofits across the country to ensure Indigenous voices are heard at all levels of government. We know that resources follow policy and policy follows elections, and we've looking to build a powerful tagline that can amplify our goals for urban Indian America. This work goes beyond voter registration. We focus on creating year-round, sustainable efforts that help people see that civic engagement extends beyond Election Day.
