Overview

The Democracy is Indigenous Impact Report celebrates more than seven years of urban Native civic engagement, tracing NUIFC's journey from the 2018 "six-week miracle" through the most successful election cycle yet in 2024. Since 2018, the initiative has invested over $11.8 million in 34 urban Indian nonprofits across 20 states, sparking nearly 2 million in-person interactions, registering more than 168,000 voters, and reaching 44.3 million people through digital channels. The report shows how community-rooted organizations have used their position as trusted messengers to build lasting civic infrastructure and reach voters that traditional GOTV campaigns have long overlooked. It also introduces companion initiatives like Thriving Cities and Margins to Mainstream, which channel this hard-earned civic power into policy wins, new public investment, and deeper relationships with elected leaders at every level of government. Please enjoy this look at the tireless work of the Democracy is Indigenous cohort across nearly a decade of organizing.
