The 2024 Democracy is Indigenous Report highlights the exemplary work of the NUIFC’s civic engagement cohort to mobilize the urban Native vote in the most recent federal election. Learn how 24 organizations in this coalition worked in their communities to create uniquely tailored strategies to connect with people that traditional GOTV efforts overlook. Our Democracy is Indigenous initiative has quickly become one of the most influential civic engagement programs across Indian Country by centering urban Native non-profits and using their experience and role as trusted messengers to connect with millions of voters. Urban Indian communities are often overlooked or forgotten by those in power, leading to massive disparities across all socio-economic factors. The NUIFC addresses this by empowering our communities and helping them build power and create thriving cities and improving the lives of our Native families.
